Use cases

Energy consumption & sustainability reporting

Track energy use, identify reduction opportunities, and report against net-zero targets.

QEHS energy module captures electricity, gas, fuel, and water consumption across sites. Automatic GHG calculations convert consumption to Scope 1 and 2 emissions; dashboards show progress against reduction targets and ISO 50001 audit trails.

The problem

  • Energy invoices are paid without being analysed for reduction opportunities
  • Scope 1 and 2 emissions cannot be calculated without manual spreadsheet work
  • No system to evidence ISO 50001 or ESOS compliance

How it works

A step-by-step walkthrough of this use case in QEHS.

  1. Configure energy sources

Set up energy sources per site (mains electricity, natural gas, diesel, LPG); add emission factors for GHG conversion.

  2. Enter consumption data

Operators enter meter readings manually or the system ingests data from automated meter reading (AMR) integrations.

  3. Review usage and baseline

The dashboard normalises consumption against production volume or degree-days and compares to the baseline period.

  4. Log significant energy uses

EnPIs are tracked for significant energy-using equipment; actions are logged when consumption exceeds target.

  5. Generate sustainability report

Annual energy and GHG report in GRI or CDP format is generated from captured consumption data.
